Marvin Windows

Best for

Landmark facades, unusual shapes and homes where the sightlines have to be right

Marvin is what you reach for when the opening will not behave. A fifth-generation family company in Warroad, Minnesota, it built its reputation on made-to-order work — sizes to the eighth of an inch, radius heads, historically accurate profiles — at a time when most of the industry moved to fixed size tables.

That matters in Queens more than it sounds. Older houses rarely hold a standard dimension, and a facade that has been read the same way from the street for a century is unforgiving of a wrong sightline.

01

Who they are

Founded in 1912 as Marvin Lumber and Cedar, the company is still family-owned and led, and manufactures in the United States. Its identity is built around made-to-order production rather than stocked sizes.

02

Materials and system families

Marvin works in wood, extruded aluminum cladding over wood, and Ultrex — its own pultruded fiberglass, chosen for a narrow frame and low movement.

The range is organised into collections: Ultimate, the most customisable wood and clad-wood line, aimed at historic, traditional and transitional work; Modern, an aluminum-clad and fiberglass line built for contemporary architecture; and the Signature, Elevate and Essential lines beneath them.

03

Which properties it suits

  • Landmark or landmark-adjacent facades where profile, muntin pattern and exterior finish are scrutinised.
  • Openings that are out of square, arched, oversized or otherwise non-standard.
  • Detached homes and renovations where interior wood is part of the finish.
  • Modern rear extensions wanting a narrow-sightline clad or fiberglass unit.
04

How it differs from the other brands here

Andersen and Pella both offer clad-wood, but Marvin's Ultimate line goes further on made-to-order sizing and historical detail — that is its central claim.

Against Crystal and JELD-WEN's value lines it is a different budget conversation entirely. Against the European aluminum houses, it offers warmth and traditional detail rather than thermally broken aluminum system engineering.

What to confirm for your own openings

A brand is a starting point, not a specification. Before Marvin is the right answer for your home, a handful of details need to be settled at the opening itself.

  • Which series within the brand is actually available for your opening size and configuration.
  • Frame material and depth against the existing jamb, and whether the install is insert or full-frame.
  • Glazing package — coatings, gas fill, laminated or acoustic glass for a busy street.
  • Hardware, screens and finish, inside and out, so the window matches the room and the facade.
  • Lead time from approved drawings to delivery, and what happens on install day.
