Schüco

Best for

Design-led projects where the detail is drawn before it is ordered

Schüco is the name that appears in the specification before it appears on site. A German system house with an enormous architect-facing apparatus — CAD, BIM, specification text, tested system data — it is built for projects where the junction detail is drawn, checked and approved long before anything is fabricated.

If your project involves an architect, or you simply want a paper trail behind every claim, this is the most documentation-rich option on the list.

01

Who they are

Based in Bielefeld, Germany, Schüco develops aluminum and PVC-U window, door and facade systems used worldwide, supplied through fabricator partners.

02

Materials and system families

The AWS aluminum window series is the core: AWS 75.SI+ and AWS 90.SI+ are the super-insulated members, positioned for passive-house-grade construction. LivIng 82 is the PVC-U line for projects that want German system engineering in plastic rather than metal.

03

Which properties it suits

  • Architect-led renovations and extensions with drawn details.
  • High-performance envelopes where system U-values must be evidenced.
  • Larger residential buildings where windows and facade need to come from one system logic.
04

How it differs from the other brands here

Schüco's advantage is depth of documented system data and design support. Aluprof and Reynaers compete in the same space, often on price or fabricator availability; the American brands compete on stocked product and service rather than specification.

What to confirm for your own openings

A brand is a starting point, not a specification. Before Schüco is the right answer for your home, a handful of details need to be settled at the opening itself.

  • Which series within the brand is actually available for your opening size and configuration.
  • Frame material and depth against the existing jamb, and whether the install is insert or full-frame.
  • Glazing package — coatings, gas fill, laminated or acoustic glass for a busy street.
  • Hardware, screens and finish, inside and out, so the window matches the room and the facade.
  • Lead time from approved drawings to delivery, and what happens on install day.
